May 21st, 2021: Radical Jewelry Makeover

During May’s Living Room, we discussed jewelry recycling with the leaders of Radical Jewelry Makeover, Director, Susie Ganch and Co-Director, Kathleen Kenedy. Radical Jewelry Makeover (RJM) was developed by Susie Ganch and Christina Miller in 2007. This discussion also included contributions from Curtis Arima, past participant in RJM and Associate Professor of Jewelry and Metal Arts at California College of the Arts, and Adriano Mol.

April 23rd, 2021: Diamonds

This session highlighted current human rights and environmental concerns related to the diamond trade. Joined by guests Simiso Mlevu (KPCSC), Hans Merket (KPCSC), and Jared Amadeo Holstein (D’Amadeo), this session provided insights on how the Kimberley Process was established, the role of the Kimberley Process Civil Society Coalition, and what we, as the jewelry industry, should consider when buying diamonds.

March 19th, 2021: Artisanal and Small Scale Gold.

This session provides insights on how the Fairmined premium is distributed in order to contribute to community development. It also includes highlights from a Consumer Study on Artisanal and Small Scale Gold by MVI Marketing, commissioned by Christina T. Miller Sustainable Jewelry Consulting. Lastly, it shares updates on the documentary, Talking Hands, and the work of Ana Maria Sierra on artisanal gold in Colombia.
